Experience

Responsibilities

Safely operate a forklift for moving, stacking, and shipping materials, assist truck drivers with manual loading/unloading and securing of cargo, perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the forklift, maintain accurate inventory counts and organization in the yard/warehouse, adhere strictly to all safety and operational protocols.

Pacific West Logistics & Transport is seeking a skilled and reliable Forklift Operator / Truck Driver Helper to join our team in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. This dual-role position is crucial to our daily dispatch and logistics operations, ensuring goods are moved efficiently and safely both within our yard and during transit. The primary responsibility is the safe and efficient operation of various forklift types (Counterbalance, Reach Truck, etc.) for the movement, stacking, and storage of materials within the warehouse and shipping yard. You must possess a valid Forklift Operator Certification and demonstrate proficient skills in handling diverse loads, narrow-aisle maneuvering, and managing high-volume workflow while strictly adhering to all company and provincial safety regulations. Daily tasks will include performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the equipment and reporting any maintenance issues immediately.

In the capacity of a Truck Driver Helper, you will be required to assist our drivers with the manual loading and unloading of freight onto transport trailers. This demands excellent physical fitness and the ability to perform heavy and repetitive lifting. Furthermore, you will be responsible for securing cargo using straps, chains, and other securing devices to prevent damage during transportation. You must also be able to accurately read and verify waybills and shipping documents to ensure correct load placement and order fulfillment, contributing to overall logistical accuracy.

Candidates must have a minimum of 1-3 years of proven experience in a similar logistics or transport setting and a solid understanding of warehouse and yard safety standards. Reliability and teamwork are non-negotiable qualities for this role.
